Brian Hodgers for Florida House District 32

Biography

Brian Hodgers

Brian Hodgers is a lifelong conservative and a Florida native. As a husband, father, small business owner, and community leader Brian wants to make Florida a better and brighter place and extend prosperity to the next generation.

Now Brian is running to serve Brevard County in the Florida House of Representatives. He understands the importance of securing our border, lowering insurance costs and property taxes, protecting our waterways and quality of life, and addressing transportation challenges. He’s also fully committed to supporting President Trump’s America First agenda and restoring common sense and efficiency to state government.

As a lifelong pilot and aviation enthusiast, Brian understands the key impact of our space and aeronautics industries and supports their inclusion in Florida’s economic strategy. Brian is pro-life, pro-family, and is a lifetime member of the NRA. A constitutional conservative, he believes strongly in the Jeffersonian ideal that our rights are God-given, not government-given, and that the best check on the ever-expanding federal government is a strong state legislature.

Brian and his wife Susan are advocates for better schools and more parental choices and oversight in their children’s education.

Insurance Reform

Lower insurance costs for Florida families.

Issues

1. Insurance

Skyrocketing insurance rates are hurting Florida families everywhere. And while Governor Ron DeSantis and our state legislature have made strong efforts to address the problem, there is still more work to do. As your State Representative, Brian will make it a top priority to take on the bad actors abusing our legal system. We must work together to stop frivolous lawsuits, establish tougher penalties for fraudulent claims, and advocate for better hurricane-resistant building codes. The more we do to limit costs that go beyond predictable storm damage, the better chance we have to stop insurance rates from rising and causing a strain on consumers across the state.

2. Property Taxes

High property taxes and the increased cost of living caused by the failed leadership of the Biden- Harris administration have put a strain on American families, making homeownership next to impossible for many young people to achieve. Meanwhile, seniors living on fixed incomes can’t keep up. Brian will fight to rein in government spending and work toward lowering property taxes for a more prosperous future for Florida, where more families can live out the American Dream.

3. Indian River Lagoon

The Indian River Lagoon and our other Brevard County waterways help keep our economy strong and thriving. It’s in our best interest to fight hard to save this important asset for residents and tourists to enjoy. Our community and business owners depend on clean and healthy waters. I will work for fiscally sound solutions to clean our lagoon, advance basin management plans and stormwater treatment projects, and advocate for investing in water pilot programs to block nutrients from reaching the lagoon, including but not limited to converting our septic tanks to sewer in as many communities as possible.

4. Border

Joe Biden’s open borders have allowed countless criminal illegal aliens into our country, bringing with them human trafficking, fentanyl, and violence against seniors. Enough is enough. As your State Representative, Brian stands with President Trump and our Border Czar Tom Homan, to put America first, fix our border, and remove these dangerous individuals from our communities. Furthermore, we need to turn off the illegal immigrant magnets in Florida, such as college tuition breaks for illegals and non-emergency government assistance.

5. Transportation

As our Space Coast community continues to grow, parents and grandparents are spending too much time on the road every day. We must ensure our roads and infrastructure can keep up with the demand. Congested roadways and poor infrastructure put residents’ safety at risk, and it’s critical that we address these issues head-on. In the State House, Brian pledges to work with state and local officials to promote transportation development and construction to keep up with this population growth and better road designs to improve the response time of first responders. That’s how we’ll keep Brevard County safe and strong!

6. Taxes

We need to stop taxing insurance policies, end the rent tax for small businesses, and continue the effort to lower property taxes. Government must learn to live within its means at all levels. Should we do this, we will keep our state on the road to permanent prosperity.

7. Culture Issues

Brian is pro-life, pro-family, and is a life-time member of the NRA. He believes strongly in the freedoms granted to us by God and outlined in the US Constitution, and that we must work to stop the over-reach of the federal government, particularly in their attempt to control our classrooms and push parents away from our learning institutions. As Thomas Jefferson believed, Brian believes that the best check on the federal government’s power is strongly informed and active state legislatures.

8. Schools

Brian believes strongly in school choice and that parents should have the right to send their children to the best school for them. Brian supports charter schools, private and parochial schools, homeschooling, and more. Furthermore, Brian supports fully funding measures to ensure school safety and stop violence, gang activity, or drug distribution in any of our schools.
